12:40 pm - Film Zendo II So, balthazar99 won the last one handily and promised to do three if he won this one as well.
The object of the abstract game Zendo is to deduce what the "rule" is by which the examples are drawn. Your task is to determine what the common thread is which ties all of the following movies together...
The Scorpion King Them! A Bug's Life Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull Empire of the Ants Phase IV
You may also give suggestions of other movies that fit the rule, and I'll let you know if they have "the Buddha nature."

Movies which involve ants?
Let's see, how did thebeardedone put it? Ah, "wgptrey's rule is necessary, but not sufficient." Close, but not quite. Sorry.

Movies where ants are a dominant life form?

Movies where ants kill?
That is it. Movies that contain killer or deadly ants. Now you have to do one in your LJ.

Whee!
Ok, I'm on it.
Alas, no. wgptrey was closer. Still, no cigars have been obtained.

Hmm. I can't think but wonder if cleaving a bit more to the rules of Zendo (at least of turnless zendo) -- in starting with some negative examples and giving counterexamples on incorrect-but-not-wrong guesses -- might be useful (though counterexamples are potentially hard to generate re movies, so meh).
Movies: Enchanted, Pinocchio
Movies that contain an ant swarm?
I have not seen Enchanted, but I do not believe it has the Buddha nature. Likewise, I do not believe that Pinocchio has the Buddha nature either (I assume you are referring to the 1940 Disney animated release).
Also, I will admit "A Bug's Life" has only the most tenuous connection to the Buddha nature.
"Movies that contain an ant swarm." is close, but still not exactly correct. Antz, for example, contains an ant swarm, but I do not believe it has the Buddha nature (if A Bug's Life is just close enough, Antz is just on the other side of that line).
Antz contains killer ants -- they go to war! And does the Scorpion King have killer ants, or just killer beetles?
According to a number of sources, there were characters buried up to their heads in sand with killer ants set on them in The Scorpion King.

Have I mentioned I hate you?
Having an ant phobia I knew it immediately...and now have to keep my self from feeling creepies on me for the rest of the day...::sigh::
I would imagine Damnation Alley would fit the eaten alive by insects theme... |
