11:10 pm - It's Still Friday! I'm leaving for a cruise tomorrow, but I packed last night. I watched Damn Yankees tonight. I hope we can make the plot make more sense in the game.
In any case, here is your video clip of the week. Can you name what musical it's from (hint: not Damn Yankees)? Can you name three or more famous people in it? Two should be easy. Three you'll have to research for.
I'll be mostly incommunicado next week. Have a good week!

Comments:
Sweet Charity. Sammy Davis Jr., Shirley Maclaine, Ricardo Montalban.
Bonus points for having sung this song in chorus?
You can have bonus points, but Ricardo Montalban does not appear in this clip. Admittedly "it" was ambiguous, but I meant 3 or more famous people in the clip, not the movie.

I knew Sweet Charity, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Shirley Maclaine off the top of my head. I believe I just saw Rip Taylor in the chorus.
Edit: OK, I finally broke down and looked it up. Rip Taylor is not listed in the IMDB entry for Sweet Charity, but Toni Basil is listed as a dancer in the Rhythm of Life number.

Rip Taylor? I thought I saw Avery Schriber, but he isn't listed either.
Whoops. Okay. Swap out Ricardo for Ben Vereen then. I misread. :)
We have a winner! I'll accept Toni Basil as well.
I thought that Damn Yankees plot made sense. :-)
The movie? The plot was tenuous. There were dance numbers thrown in for no apparent reason (i_scribble's opinion is that they were there to make Bob Fosse happy). I didn't find the character of Lola to be believable or sympathetic. It was never adequately explained how they beat the devil (apparently it was in the play). It was ok and had some good songs and I can make it into a fine LARP plot, but it wasn't that great in my opinion.

If the wikipedia entry is accurate, the plot makes no sense. The devil reneges for no good reason.
Sweet Charity: Sammy David Junior and Shirley McClain. I did not have to look it up - and I knew it in one measure.
I love that number, it would be fun to see somebody do it. |
